If you’re looking for a pair of comfortable hiking boots for rainy days, you may want to check out the Lowa Zephyr boots. These boots feature GORE-TEX(r) waterproofing and full-leather construction, which is great for both comfort and durability. I decided to see what all the fuss was about with these European military issue tactical boots, and got myself a pair. Having worn them now on a few hunts and a few PRS shooting competitions, read on to see what I think of them.
Full-leather construction
The LOWA Zephyr is a full-leather boot, and this leather-and-polyurethane-coated boot is lightweight and comfortable. The dual-density PU MONOWRAP(r) frame technology bonded directly to the upper and sole of the boot is designed to provide maximum shock absorption, support, and lateral stability while also providing excellent foot protection. The boot also features Lowa’s signature Cross II outsole and a polyurethane monowrap construction.
The Zephyr is a versatile boot with an award-winning design. This boot’s CORDURA and split-leather constructions are both durable and lightweight. It also has a waterproof GORE-TEX lining. It also features a Monowrap midsole for added comfort and support. These boots are perfect for active days on the trail or on the range.
The ZEPHYR is a full-leather boot with a slip-lasted and injected Lowa Cross sole. Its upper is made of suede leather and Cordura, with Gore-Tex VISION 3LY lining and a mid-height cuff that provides support and comfort. The ZEPHYR’s MONOWRAP(r) 2 sole unit offers optimal traction and support, with a firm 7/8 TPU stabiliser for added stability.
LOWA is a world leader in high-quality outdoor footwear. The company was the first outdoor footwear manufacturer to be awarded ISO 9001 status. This certification ensures the highest quality standards for construction and process. For this reason, Lowa has become a favorite of outdoor enthusiasts. Its full-leather zephyr boots offer a comfortable and durable fit that is reminiscent of sneakers.
GORE-TEX(r) technology
The GORE-TEX(r) technology used in Lowa Zephyr boots is designed to provide maximum weather protection. The mid-height Zephyr is ideal for warm climates. This boot weighs more than three pounds a pair. Its lightweight LiteBase outsole is 25% lighter than Vibram. It also offers excellent traction and cushioning.
The lining of this LOWA Zephyr boot features the company’s GORE-TEX(r) Fabric membrane. This durable, windproof, and breathable material provides superior protection from the elements. The lining of this boot keeps the body dry and cool, while still allowing perspiration to escape. This makes it a great choice for hiking, running, and indoor use.
The Lowa Zephyr GTX Mid TF boot is a tactical boot for three-season hiking and service professionals. The GORE-TEX (r) technology in this boot provides excellent waterproof protection. The boot’s molded outsole is designed for traction and comfort while on a variety of surfaces. Lastly, Lowa’s Monowrap frame stability frame provides superior shock absorption and comfort.
This LOWA Zephyr Mid Boots are made with GORE-TEX(r) Extended Comfort lining. This GORE-TEX(r) Performance Comfort lining maximizes the breathability and waterproof properties of the GORE-TEX(r) fabric. These boots will keep you dry and comfortable while you enjoy various outdoor activities. They are incredibly lightweight, too, and you won’t even feel them at all.

Durability

The Zephyr hiking boot is a very popular option. This versatile style provides traction on any terrain, is waterproof, and offers excellent foot protection. Its PU MONOWRAP(r) frame provides maximum shock absorption, support, and lateral stability. The boot’s waterproof/breathable GORE-TEX lining adds additional water resistance. The Zephyr’s injected sole and LOWA Water Stop Pro Spray help prevent odor and moisture from penetrating the boot’s lining.
Zephyr GTX hiking boots are waterproof due to the GORE-TEX membrane. These boots have survived monsoon-level rainstorms, wet rainforests, and numerous streams. Their GORE-TEX lining offers exceptional waterproofing. However, if you’re looking for the best hiking boots for men, look no further than the Lowa Zephyr GTX Mid TF.
The Zephyr boot is made with the same LOWA Cross sole as the LOWA Task Force line of footwear. Its special lug pattern and hiking-oriented tread provides superior traction across a wide variety of terrain. The softer sole material is combined with a three-quarter length nylon shank, which enhances stability and rigidity under foot while still being flexible at the toe.
The Zephyr features GORE-TEX(r) Fabric membranes that draw heat and moisture away from the foot, keeping it comfortable even in extreme temperatures. GORE-TEX Extended Comfort Footwear membranes also provide added protection from warmer climates. The Zephyr models feature quick-dry synthetic fabric. The Zephyr also features removable climate control footbeds that are made from 1/4” foam that is fixed to a simi-rigid base.
Comfort
If you’re looking for a good hiking boot, the Lowa Zephyr GTX Mid may be the one for you. This mid-weight hiking boot features a GORE-TEX lining and is remarkably comfortable. It feels more like a high-top sports shoe than a boot. In fact, you could wear it all day, every day! The boot’s split leather/synthetic upper is both breathable and durable, and the Cross outsole provides excellent ankle support.
The GORE-TEX membrane is highly breathable and waterproof. When paired with midweight merino wool socks, I never felt clammy in the Zephyr GTX boots, even while trekking in the tropics. Another plus is that the boot dries faster than most GTX-lined boots – it was fully dry after about 6 hours in our test, depending on humidity and temperature.
Comfort is essential in a good shoe. Lowa Zephyr boots are extremely comfortable and well-made. They’re made to fit your lower leg perfectly, and they feel fantastic on your feet. Comfortable feet make you a happy man! So you’ll want to make sure these are comfortable before you purchase them. You can do so by replacing the bottom sole. There are many options to improve the comfort level of your shoes.
In addition to being comfortable, the Lowa Zephyr is lightweight and flexible. It’s a good choice if you want to hike for long periods of time or are concerned about your knees and ankles being impacted. The breathable uppers keep your feet dry and warm in any weather condition. And it’s important to choose the right socks when buying a pair of boots. There are several types of socks on the market, including wool-blend.
Featuring the Gore-tex lining, these Zephyr GTX boots are ideal for all conditions, as it still allows the feet to breathe, whilst blocking water or moisture from penetrating the boots from the outside, keeping your feet dry in all conditions, both summer and winter.
I have multiple different sets of boots that have taken a beating on various hunting trips and shooting competitions, but the Lowa Zephyr’s have shows by far the least wear out of all of them, so they have become my go-to boot for both hunting and PRS shooting competitions.
These Lowa Boots are VERY sturdy and offer excellent foot protection and ankle support, so you don’t risk spraining an ankle from a tough hunt hike or standing in strange positions during a shooting competition.
